Haley Overstreet has been named the new principal of Ballard County Middle School. She will assume her new duties on July 1, upon the retirement of Amber Parker, who has been principal since the 2014-15 school year.

“We are thrilled to have Haley Overstreet move into the BCMS principal role. Mrs. Overstreet is a proven leader in our district and has a passion for Ballard County,” said Dr. Casey Allen, Ballard superintendent. “Haley will be a perfect fit to follow our longest active principal, Amber Parker. Amber has been this district’s biggest cheerleader for years, and has led BCMS to its highest performance to date. Haley will keep things moving forward for our kids and our community.”

Overstreet has worked for nine years in the district, including the last year as athletic director and director of districtwide programs. She previously was a third- and fourth-grade reading and language arts teacher at Ballard County Elementary School. She also has been the crisis prevention and de-escalation trainer for eight years, and has worked directly with onboarding new teachers for the last four. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in educational administration, both from Murray State University.

“I am walking into a building that just this year received its highest-ever ranking for Kentucky State Assessments. My primary goal is to continue to focus on improving academic and behavioral expectations, as well as keeping our positive school culture. Middle school is such a vital time in a child’s development, and I want students to know that they all are capable of achieving great things,” Overstreet said.

“I’d also like to keep strengthening relationships with our community, students, and staff,” she continued. “We want to allow students the opportunity to develop real-world skills that will serve them in high school and beyond.”

Overstreet and her husband, Alan, have one son, Abel. They live in Kevil.
