BMHS Principal Davis named district's new director of pupil personnel
Ballard Memorial High School Principal Leslee Davis has been named the new director of pupil personnel for Ballard County Schools. She will begin her new job on July 1, replacing the retiring Bob Wilson, who had been DPP for the district for 17 years.
Her duties will include oversight of student attendance and code of behavior, school safety, the district calendar, and working with homeschool families. She also will work with school nurses and Family Resource and Youth Service Center directors.

RESCHEDULED DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER FORECAST: To Monday, March 29, at 6:30 p.m.
BMHS is hosting a ninth grade orientation meeting for 2021-22 freshmen and their parents/guardians on Thursday, March 25, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school gym at 3561 Paducah Road, Barlow. 
Meeting topics will include requirements for graduation and diploma options. Administrators also will share course offerings to help students choose a career path and available electives. Students are asked to bring their Chromebooks to the meeting. Most information will be completed electronically.

If turnout is an indication of excitement, Bomber Football has entered a new era. Over 40 players and potential players showed up for the introduction of longtime assistant coach LeToun Bledsoe as the new head coach for the program.
Bledsoe was an assistant varsity football coach for two years, and an assistant and head coach at middle school for eight. His 2014 middle school team won the divisional championship. Bledsoe also has been head track coach for five years, and a head middle school basketball coach for six years.

Ballard Memorial High School is hosting a dual credit information meeting on March 25 at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at 3561 Paducah Road, Barlow. This meeting is for 2021-22 juniors, seniors, and their parents/guardians.   
Get a head start on college - dual credit course meeting will be held Feb. 6
There will be a meeting about dual credit courses on Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at Ballard Memorial High School. All students who will be juniors or seniors in the 2020-21 school year and their parents are invited to attend.  
Register now for graduated license class to be held at BMHS on Feb. 3
Students who need to fulfill their Kentucky Graduated Driver License requirement can register now for the "Alive at 25" class that will be held at Ballard Memorial High School on Feb. 3 from 4:45-8:45 p.m.

BMHS report cards to be mailed
Ballard Memorial High School will mail student report cards the week of Jan. 13. 
River Valley AgCredit makes donation to FFA River Valley AgCredit makes donation to FFA
Ballard Memorial High School's FFA chapter was among the clubs that received donations from River Valley AgCredit last week. The $6,000 will be used for repair and finishing in both of the chapter greenhouses, and to automate them for a hydroponics system.

In the 2019 legislative session, the Kentucky General Assembly voted to make all public school property smoke-free by July 1, 2020. Following this change in state law (KRS 438.345), the Ballard County Board of Education voted earlier this year to implement the new rules on the state's 2020 date.

While Ballard's buildings have been smoke-free for some time, new signs have gone up around exterior spaces on campus, including Bomber Field for football, and the baseball and softball fields.   

Long hired as varsity baseball coach Long hired as varsity baseball coach
Award-winning veteran coach Jimmy Long has been hired as Ballard Memorial's new head baseball coach.

Long coached multiple sports at Heath High School, compiling a 193-62 record in baseball from 2002-2008. His teams won the 2nd District championship every one of those years, the 1st Region championship five times, and the All A Classic state championship in 2004.
