Isabella Myers (far right) won her second school-wide spelling bee at Ballard County Elementary School on Jan 29. She now is qualified to compete in the state spelling bee, to be held later in Louisville. Shrum was first runner-up in the contest, which ran for 80 words. Third place went to Tucker, then Meinschein and Nix. The contest was sponsored by Ballard County Attorney Vicki Hayden, the Ballard County Education Association and Ballard County Community Education, and organized by teacher Michele Chandler.
