Ballard County Middle School names Bodell interim counselor

Ballard County Middle School has named Ashley Bodell as its interim school counselor for the remainder of the 2016-17 school year. Bodell had been serving as a special education teacher at BCMS. Long-time counselor Kim Grogan retired at the end of October.

Bodell had just begun her 11th year as a special education teacher. She holds a bachelor’s degree in learning and behavior disorders and a master’s degree in counseling, both from Murray State University. She is working on her Rank 1 certification at the University of the Cumberlands.

“I am very excited,” Bodell said, “but I know I have big shoes to fill here.” She said she was looking forward to working with more children and their families. “This is a great place to work, with great kids, great parents and a great staff,” she added.

BCMS Principal Amber Parker said, “I am very excited for Mrs. Bodell to join the staff in the office. She does a great job working with students and I know she will continue the excellent counseling services that Mrs. Grogan had always provided for our students. Mrs. Bodell had worked with Mrs. Grogan in the past, so I know she is ready to take on this position.”

Bodell and her husband, Cody, live in Bandana with their two daughters, who attend Ballard County schools.
