Ballard County ASAP and Family Focus Director Kelly Wray was presented with the STAR award at the home varsity basketball games on Feb. 17. The award recognizes a community member who has made significant contributions to the prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other drug usage.

Presenter Bob Wilson said Wray “daily demonstrates a deep compassion for Ballard County students, families and the community.” She has been Family Resources director for 12 years and ASAP director for three.

Kentucky Agency for Substance Abuse Prevention (KYASAP) was formed to promote a Commonwealth of healthy communities by reducing the abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs, as well as related consequences. Ballard County ASAP was formed in 2004; its vision is to strive to adequately meet the ATOD treatment needs of Ballard citizens with all available resources. The Ballard ASAP board includes members from the school district, the faith-based community, health and mental health agencies, and community members.
