Leaders of the Month announced for September
Each month at Ballard County Middle School, six students (two from each grade) will be selected and named Leaders of the Month. Students are nominated by teachers for outstanding behavior or performance. Farm Bureau's Puckett sponsors notebooks for BCMS leadership program
Kentucky Farm Bureau agent Justin Puckett is shown here with the first local sponsorship to the Leader in Me program at Ballard County Middle School. The money will be used to purchase Leadership notebooks for all students so they can learn to track their own academic and behavior data for the school year.  
Breakfast, lunch at all schools again free under CEP program
For the third year, students at all Ballard County schools will be eligible to eat breakfast and lunch for free. Morning and midday meals for all Ballard County Schools students again will be free in 2016-17, under the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Community Eligibility Provision, according to Ballard Food Service Director Amber Hayes.  
Same name, different face: Brant Veal named choir director at BCMS, BMHS
Ballard County Schools has named Brant Veal as its successful candidate for the position of choir director at Ballard County Middle and Ballard Memorial High schools.

Parker attends leadership training through the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce
Amber Parker, principal at Ballard County Middle School, is finishing a year of executive-level leadership training usually reserved for top business and industry CEOs. The Leadership Institute for School Principals is a program of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Foundation; Parker’s spot was sponsored by CSI, Inc., of Paducah.

BCMS artists' work named best in class at Baptist Health exhibit
This art work by Ballard County Middle School students Ivy Mowery (left) and Jade Artis was chosen as the best of 16 middle-school level submissions in a recent contest held by Baptist Health in Paducah.
