SBDM to hold special called meeting on Sept. 2
Ballard County Middle School’s Site-Based Decision-Making Council will have a special called SBDM meeting on Monday, Sept. 2, at 3:15 p.m. in school’s conference room at 3565 Paducah Road, Barlow.  
Ballard County Middle School hosts volleyball camps
Twenty-seven girls registered for volleyball camps held at Ballard County Middle School in July. In the first photo are girls from fourth to sixth grade; the second photo is girls in seventh and eighth grade.  
Queen named interim assistant principal at BCMS
New Ballard County Middle School Interim Assistant Principal Stephen Queen said he didn’t start out wanting to be an administrator, but decided it was the right fit. “I’ll still have contact with students, and I can use my insights from being a teacher to help our younger teachers become better,” he said.  
School now in session! Drivers reminded of pick-up, drop-off points on main campus
The first day of classes for Ballard County Schools was Thursday, Aug. 7. It’s back to school for student drivers, parents and bus drivers alike. Please click the link below for a quick reminder of traffic patterns and pick-up/drop-off points for everyone on the main campus.  
All Ballard County schools to be included in free meal program this year
Breakfast and lunch have been free for all students in Ballard County Elementary and Preschool for two years. This year, students at Ballard County Middle and Ballard Memorial High schools will join them.
Morning and midday meals for all Ballard County Schools students will be free in 2014-15, under the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Community Eligibility Provision, according to Ballard Food Service Director Amber Hayes.
Parker named interim principal at BCMS
After two years at assistant principal at Ballard County Middle School, Amber Parker was named interim principal this week by the school’s Site-Based Decision-Making council.  
Parents asked to review immunization requirements
If you have a child entering preschool, kindergarten, sixth grade, or transferring to Ballard County Schools for the 2014-15 school year, the following health requirements must be met to comply with Kentucky’s state regulations and will be strictly enforced.  
Students recognized in Awards Day ceremonies
Ballard County Middle School held its Awards Day ceremonies for sixth and seventh grade on May 27, and immediately preceding eighth-grade promotions on May 30 in the school gym. Recognitions were as follows:  
Students of the Week announced for May 2
Each week at Ballard County Middle School, three students (one from each grade) will be selected and named Students of the Week. Students are nominated by teachers for outstanding behavior or performance.  
Reminder issued for sixth-grade, other immunizations; school nurses can help
All students entering sixth grade at Ballard County Middle School in the fall are required to have a physical and several immunizations (TDaP, meningitis and second varicella-chickenpox). The school nurse can provide both the physical and these shots if a student has Medicaid or no insurance.
