Try-outs continued on May 4 for Ballard County Middle School volleyball teams
Try-outs for the 2016-17 Ballard County Middle School volleyball teams will be continued on Wednesday, May 4, from 3:15-5 p.m. in the Ballard Memorial High School gym.
All girls currently in grades 5-7 with an interest in playing volleyball for next year are invited to attend.
 
Leaders of the Week announced for March 21
Each week at Ballard County Middle School, three students (one from each grade) will be selected and named Leaders of the Week. Students are nominated by teachers for outstanding behavior or performance.  
Parker attends leadership training through the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce
Amber Parker, principal at Ballard County Middle School, is finishing a year of executive-level leadership training usually reserved for top business and industry CEOs. The Leadership Institute for School Principals is a program of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Foundation; Parker’s spot was sponsored by CSI, Inc., of Paducah. 
BCMS artists' work named best in class at Baptist Health exhibit
This art work by Ballard County Middle School students Ivy Mowery (left) and Jade Artis was chosen as the best of 16 middle-school level submissions in a recent contest held by Baptist Health in Paducah.

Each week at Ballard County Middle School, three students (one from each grade) will be selected and named Leaders of the Week. Students are nominated by teachers for outstanding behavior or performance. Shown from left are BCMS Leaders of the Week for March 14: sixth-grader Reese Forrester, seventh-grader Holly Pratt and eighth-grader Bre Rushing. Selectors said Forrester is very dependable, makes good grades, and helps out in the classroom; Pratt is polite, kind and always tries to do a good job with class work and library work; and Rushing is a hard worker, good friend, and keeps her eye on the future.

Young Leaders in Action prepares BCMS students for future success

Middle-school students from 10 schools in west Kentucky traveled to Frankfort on Feb. 11 as part of the Young Leaders in Action program. Murray State University’s Office of Regional Outreach leads the program in partnership with West Kentucky Educational Cooperative. Ballard County Middle School students Ryan Rehkemper, Shelby Taylor, Abby Tyson and Carrie Woodall are involved in this program, along with Assistant Principal Stephen Queen.
